The Embassy of Russia in Ghana has acknowledged reports circulating on social media regarding the alleged secret recording of Ghanaian women by a man purported to be a Russian national. In its message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, 16 February 2026, the embassy said it had “taken note of the reports in the Ghanaian media on the alleged involvement of a supposedly Russian citizen engaged in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and recorded those acts without consent.”

In a statement addressing the growing public concern, the embassy confirmed it is aware of the allegations and the widespread online discussions surrounding the matter. While details remain unclear, the diplomatic mission indicated that it takes such reports seriously and is closely monitoring developments.

The alleged incident, which has generated significant public outrage, involves claims that Ghanaian women were secretly recorded without their consent. The videos have since gone viral, prompting calls for thorough investigations and accountability.

Although the embassy did not confirm the identity or nationality of the individual involved, it stressed the importance of due process and urged the public to avoid speculation while authorities investigate the claims.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian law enforcement agencies are reportedly looking into the matter to establish the facts and determine whether any criminal laws were breached.

The development has sparked broader conversations about privacy rights, consent, and digital safety, with advocacy groups urging stronger protections against non-consensual recordings and online exploitation.
