The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a large consignment of suspected narcotics concealed in a long trailer at Dambai in the Oti Region. The operation, which took place on February 10, 2026, was carried out based on intelligence gathered by the Police.
Officers stopped and searched a DAF Long Trailer with registration number GW 1943-09, according to a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, the Oti Regional Police Public Affairs Officer.

Despite the trailer’s first appearance of being empty, a thorough examination showed that it had been altered to include hidden compartments that were sealed with six metal plates. Police said the concealed compartments beneath the trailer were opened in the presence of the suspect, identified as Amidu Jubril, aged 40. A search of the hidden sections led to the discovery of 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances wrapped in yellow masking tape, suspected to be narcotics.
Since then, the vehicle has been seized, and all of the evidence that was recovered from the compartments has been kept for use as evidence. The suspect is being held by the police and is helping with the ongoing investigations. The Oti Regional Police Command has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences in the region.
“We remain resolute in our efforts to clamp down on criminal networks involved in narcotics trade,” the statement said.
