Two people have been confirmed dead following a road traffic accident involving a truck at Tahiru Akura along the Tamale Highway on March 13, 2026.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the accident involved a DAF truck with registration number AS-2626-S. The victims were identified as the driver and his mate, both of whom died at the scene.

According to the Kintampo Fire Station, a rescue team made up of ten firefighters was dispatched to the accident site after receiving a distress call.

The rescue operation was led by Muriya Gordon, an Assistant Divisional Officer Grade II (ADOII), who supervised efforts to retrieve the bodies of the victims from the wreckage of the vehicle.

After the recovery operation, the bodies were handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further action.

Authorities say investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The Ghana National Fire Service reiterated its commitment to responding promptly to emergencies while continuing public education campaigns aimed at promoting safety on the country’s roads
