NPP to set rules for polling station elections at key NEC meeting

Top officials and leading figures of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have begun arriving at the party’s national headquarters in Accra ahead of a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting expected to shape the framework for upcoming polling station elections.

The meeting forms part of ongoing preparations for the party’s internal electoral roadmap and follows the successful completion of a recent membership registration exercise.

Among the key personalities present are the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), former General Secretary John Boadu, Assin South MP Rev. Ntim Fordjour, and former flagbearer aspirant Kwabena Agyapong, among other senior party figures.

The NEC is expected to deliberate on guidelines and modalities for the conduct of grassroots elections, where party members will elect polling station executives as part of a broader internal democratic process.

The discussions also come in the wake of the party’s presidential primary and the announcement of detailed electoral timelines, which outline key steps including membership registration, voter verification, and preparatory exercises leading to the polling station polls.

Party leadership maintains that the structured process is designed to strengthen internal democracy and ensure transparent, credible, and orderly elections across all levels of the party.
