The Nigerian romantic comedy has earned international recognition after winning the Favorite Feature Narrative Audience Award at the 2026 Black Star Film Festival in Philadelphia.

Nollywood has another international win to celebrate! The romantic comedy Call of My Life has won the Favorite Feature Narrative Audience Award at the 2026 Black Star Film Festival in Philadelphia, United States. The film, directed by Dammy Twitch, emerged as the audience favorite at a festival dedicated to showcasing Black filmmakers and stories from around the world.

    A Big Win for Nollywood

Call of My Life tells a story centered on heartbreak, vulnerability, and the courage to open oneself up to love. The film follows Soluchi, who struggles with the fear of being rejected and holds back her affection as her relationship develops. The story ultimately explores whether she will risk being vulnerable and pursue the love she deserves. Its audience award is particularly significant because it means the film connected directly with viewers at the festival.

    International Recognition

The Black-star Film Festival is an important platform for Black, Brown, and Indigenous filmmakers, and the 2026 edition featured films from across the African diaspora. Call of My Life emerged as the winner of the Audience Award for Feature Narrative, putting the Nollywood production among the festival’s recognized films. The achievement adds another international success to Nigerian cinema and gives the film’s cast and creative team an even bigger platform.

From Nigerian screens to an international film festival in Philadelphia, Call of My Life has given Nollywood another reason to celebrate.
