Miracles Aboagye says EOCO allegations have pushed his marriage to the brink

New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator and spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, says allegations linking him to the alleged misappropriation of GH¢55 million have taken a significant toll on his personal life, revealing that the controversy has pushed his marriage to the brink.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Monday, July 21, 2026, Mr. Aboagye said he has been deeply affected by the Economic and Organised Crime Office’s (EOCO) public statement naming him in connection with investigations into the alleged financial improprieties during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).

He said the allegations have caused emotional distress and damaged his reputation.

“I have been defamed and maligned. I am saddened by all this,” he said.

Mr Aboagye disclosed that rumours circulating about his personal life, including claims that he has three wives, have created serious tension in his home.

“Someone said I have three wives. My wife has even packed her bags and left home. They have done me a lot of disservice,” he lamented.

He maintained that the allegations and public commentary surrounding the investigation have unfairly tarnished his image and affected his mental well-being.

Mr Aboagye also rejected suggestions that he had attempted to evade investigators, insisting that he cooperated fully with EOCO throughout the investigation.

According to him, he made himself available whenever requested by investigators and was therefore surprised when he was arrested at Kotoka International Airport.

He said he believes the allegations against him have unfairly damaged both his reputation and his family life.

The EOCO investigation relates to the alleged misappropriation of GH¢55 million during Mr Aboagye’s tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
