GRA announces two-month amnesty for uncustomed vehicles

The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced a two-month amnesty period for users of uncustomed vehicles across the country, effective from June 1 to July 31, 2026.

According to a public notice issued by the authority, the amnesty will provide relief by waiving penalties that would ordinarily apply if such vehicles were seized by Customs officials.

The GRA has urged owners and users of uncustomed vehicles to take advantage of the period to voluntarily regularise the documentation of vehicles that were illegally imported into the country.

The initiative is intended to encourage compliance and provide affected individuals with an opportunity to resolve their vehicle registration and customs issues without facing additional sanctions.

However, the authority cautioned that the grace period will not be extended beyond the stated deadline.

The public has been informed that after July 31, 2026, the Customs Division will begin nationwide unannounced inspections on roads across the country, during which all uncustomed vehicles found will be impounded.

The GRA is therefore encouraging affected vehicle owners to complete the necessary processes before enforcement measures commence.
