GBC announces Nationwide broadcast plan for FIFA World Cup 2026

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), backed by the Government of Ghana, has secured exclusive terrestrial free-to-air rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026. This guarantees millions of Ghanaians free access to all matches, including the Black Stars’ group-stage games against England, Croatia, and Panama.

To maximize nationwide coverage, GBC has formed a National Broadcast Consortium, bringing together major broadcasters such as GTV, Joy Prime, GHOne TV, Metro TV, TV3, UTV, and others. The consortium will share technical, marketing, and broadcasting resources to ensure seamless delivery across the country.

Radio stations must obtain sub-licences from GBC to carry live commentary, while unauthorized transmissions will face strict enforcement. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are being offered across TV, radio, and digital platforms, with GBC, FIFA, and New World TV warning against piracy or unauthorized rebroadcasts.

The World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026, across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, culminating in the final on July 19 in New Jersey.
