    The Digicoast launches NeuroCoders initiative

The Digicoast has officially launched the NeuroCoders Initiative, a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme designed to bridge the gap between neurodiversity and the technology industry by equipping autistic and dyslexic youth with specialised IT training, mentorship, and job pathways in high-demand tech fields.

The initiative, supported by Zeroth Business Solutions Limited, was launched at the Accra Digital Centre on Friday, April 24, 2026, under the theme “Unlocking Digital Potential Beyond the Spectrum.”

Organisers say the programme reflects The Digicoast’s commitment to inclusion in the digital economy, arguing that many individuals with neurodivergent conditions possess strong cognitive and technical abilities that are often overlooked in traditional education and employment systems.

Speaking at the launch, Founder and CEO of The Digicoast, Gordon Fiifi Donkor, said the initiative is designed to ensure that neurodiverse individuals are not left behind in Ghana’s growing tech ecosystem.

He explained that the programme will combine structured training, mentorship, and direct job linkage opportunities to prepare beneficiaries for real-world roles in the technology sector.

“We are launching NeuroCoders to make sure those left behind in the digital divide, especially those on the spectrum, are included. We believe they have unique cognitive talents that can be utilised in tech,” he said.

Donkor added that participants will be trained in areas such as software engineering and data engineering, followed by mentor-based placement to support their transition into the industry.

“They will work within identified spaces with dedicated mentors to guide them into relevant tech careers,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of Mission Paediatrics, Dr. Marilyn Marbell Wilson, described the initiative as timely and transformative for neurodiverse children in Ghana.

She highlighted that many neurodiverse individuals demonstrate strengths such as pattern recognition, attention to detail, visual thinking, and strong memory skills abilities that are highly valuable in the digital economy.

“In our work, we’ve seen neurodiverse children who may be nonverbal but excel with computers. This initiative is a timely opportunity to harness those strengths and help them contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s digital economy,” she said.

The NeuroCoders Initiative is expected to open new pathways for inclusion in Ghana’s tech sector while promoting a more diverse and accessible digital workforce.
