Dagombaline Hit by Second Fire in Four Months

A devastating fire has once again swept through Dagombaline in Kumasi, destroying homes and property for the second time in just four months. The latest blaze broke out in the early hours of Easter Monday, leaving dozens of structures in the Subin basin completely razed.

Eyewitnesses say the fire began around 4 a.m., quickly spreading through the tightly packed community. “The fire started around 4am from this structure,” said Fuseini Ahmed, a resident, pointing to a burnt building across from his own wooden home. “All my belongings are gone. Even my shorts were given to me by a friend,” he lamented, describing the heartbreak of losing everything once again.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, and authorities are expected to investigate.

This is the second major fire to hit Dagombaline this year. In January, another inferno destroyed scores of homes in the area. Residents affected by the previous fire had only just rebuilt their wooden structures, making the latest disaster a particularly cruel blow for the community.

Local leaders and residents are calling for urgent measures to prevent such recurring tragedies, highlighting the vulnerability of wooden homes and the need for better fire safety measures in densely populated areas like the Subin basin.
