Ghanaian hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone has become one of the latest victims of the devastating floods that swept through parts of Accra following Monday’s heavy downpour.
Videos circulating on social media show floodwaters inundating the musician’s residence, with several vehicles and household property submerged in muddy water.
According to the footage, members of Reggie Rockstone’s family were forced to remain on the upper floor of the house as floodwaters engulfed the compound below, leaving cars and other valuables damaged.
The flooding follows hours of continuous rainfall on Monday, June 29, which overwhelmed drainage systems and submerged homes, businesses and major roads across the Greater Accra Region.
Several communities, including Kaneshie, Mallam, Spintex, Weija, Achimota and Madina, were among the hardest hit as residents battled rising floodwaters.
The widespread flooding has also disrupted businesses, damaged infrastructure and claimed lives, prompting emergency rescue operations by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana National Fire Service and other security agencies.
Reggie Rockstone’s ordeal has drawn widespread sympathy on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing concern over the scale of destruction caused by the floods and wishing the musician and his family well as they recover from the incident.
