President John Dramani Mahama has held high-level bilateral talks with United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during an official visit to the UK.

The meeting took place over breakfast at No. 10 Downing Street on Tuesday, June 2. It formed part of President Mahama’s engagements aimed at strengthening Ghana’s relations with key international partners.

President Mahama and Prime Minister Starmer discussed ways to deepen the long-standing relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

The leaders focused on expanding trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. They also explored ways to boost economic cooperation and support shared development goals.

Both sides discussed areas of mutual interest and examined opportunities for stronger partnerships that could drive economic growth and sustainable development.

The talks highlighted the strong diplomatic and economic ties that have existed between Ghana and the United Kingdom for many years.

The meeting reflected the commitment of both governments to strengthen cooperation and create new opportunities for businesses and investors.

Several senior Ghanaian officials joined President Mahama at the meeting.

They included Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson.

The breakfast meeting formed part of a broader programme of activities during President Mahama’s visit to the United Kingdom.

The engagements aim to strengthen Ghana’s strategic partnerships and attract greater economic cooperation with international allies.

Government officials say the discussions are expected to support efforts to increase trade, investment and development collaboration between Ghana and the UK.
