The Ghana Education Service has assured the public that all qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will be placed in senior high and technical schools across the country.
In a statement issued on May 14, 2026, GES said preparations had been completed to receive first-year students into senior high and technical schools on September 18, 2026.
The service congratulated all Junior High School graduates on completing the BECE and assured parents and students that every qualified candidate would gain access to secondary education.
GES dismissed reports claiming that about 72,000 students could miss out on placement this year.
According to the statement, such reports are speculative and do not reflect the true situation.
“We therefore urge the public to disregard it,” the statement said.
The education service also stated that there is enough infrastructure and facilities available to accommodate all qualified students.
GES further assured stakeholders that efforts to phase out the double-track system would not affect access to senior high and technical education.
It explained that the move is intended to improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining equal access for students.
The service reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, and quality education for all Ghanaian children.
The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, on behalf of management.
