Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (Ghana National Fire Service) in the Volta Region responded to two separate emergency incidents on Wednesday, May 13, rescuing accident victims and containing a domestic fire outbreak.
According to a press statement issued by the Service’s Volta Regional Public Relations Office on Thursday, May 14, firefighters first attended to a road traffic accident along the Peki–Asikuma Road involving a SINO tipper truck.
The fire crew rescued two male victims after arriving quickly at the scene and carrying out emergency operations.
Later the same day, firefighters responded to a fire outbreak at Asikuma Zongo. A three-bedroom thatch-roofed house had already been engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
The team managed to contain and extinguish the fire before it spread to nearby structures, preventing further destruction in the community.
The statement said the timely response of firefighters helped save lives and protect property from extensive damage.
It also quoted the Service as saying firefighters confined the blaze in time to stop it from reaching adjoining buildings.
The Ghana National Fire Service also urged the public to report emergencies promptly to enable faster response and improved rescue operations.
