Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has called on the West African Examinations Council to review how it transports examination materials.
His call follows delays in delivering BECE papers at the Boako M/A Basic School centre in the Western North Region.
As of 9:15 am, question papers had not arrived, although the exam was expected to start at 9:00 am.
Mr Iddrisu, who visited the centre, described the situation as worrying. He said the system needs urgent reform.
“WAEC has to change the way they do things. Candidates should be seated by 8:30 and start at 9:00, but I see answer sheets without question papers,” he said.
He warned that such delays disrupt the smooth conduct of examinations.
“We have to review how exam questions are transported to the examination centres,” he added.
The Minister also encouraged the candidates and wished them success on behalf of the government.
“I’ve come to wish you the best of luck on behalf of President Mahama,” he said.
