Officers from the Economic and Organised Crime Office have reportedly raided the Kumasi residence of former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

The operation took place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at his home in Atonsu in the Ashanti Region. According to sources, the raid was conducted in Mr. Jumah’s absence.

Sources allege that EOCO operatives forced entry into the property, breaking doors and gaining access to rooms where they seized several items, including laptops, keys, and documents.

EOCO has not yet issued an official statement regarding the operation or its purpose.

Mr. Jumah, who served under the New Patriotic Party administration, led GIHOC Distilleries for several years. His tenure has recently come under scrutiny as part of broader government efforts to investigate alleged financial irregularities and procurement breaches within state-owned enterprises.

Reports have pointed to concerns over contract awards, asset management, and the company’s financial performance during his leadership, although no formal charges have been publicly announced.

The development forms part of ongoing anti-corruption initiatives aimed at strengthening accountability and transparency in public institutions.

The reported raid has triggered political reactions, with some party supporters calling for transparency in the investigation, while others have urged EOCO to clarify the circumstances surrounding the operation.
