Britney Spears enters rehab after DUI arrest ahead of court appearance

Britney Spears has entered a rehabilitation facility voluntarily, just weeks after her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to her representative.

The pop star’s team confirmed that she sought treatment following the incident, which occurred on 4 March, and described the situation as “completely inexcusable.” They also said her family and close circle would work on a long-term support plan focused on her wellbeing and stability.

Spears is scheduled to appear in court in California in the coming weeks to respond to the DUI charge.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Spears was stopped after allegedly driving her BMW “erratically at a high rate of speed” on a motorway. Officers said she showed signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety tests at the scene.

Following her arrest, her representative told US media that she would comply with legal proceedings and take steps to address the situation, adding that she would receive support from her family during this period.

Spears remains one of the world’s best-known pop artists, with a catalogue of global hits including Baby One More Time, Toxic, and Stronger. Her career has also been shaped by long-running public scrutiny and a 13-year conservatorship that ended in 2021.

That legal arrangement, which placed control of her personal and financial affairs under court-appointed guardianship, was widely debated before it was terminated, allowing her to regain control of her life and decisions.
