Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has recalled the hardships she suffered while living in the United Kingdom. In an interview, Sista Afia revealed that life in the UK became unbearable while she was still working as a nurse before pursuing music professionally.

Before moving to Ghana, she added, circumstances worsened to the point where she had to stay at her friend’s house and in her car.

She said, “It got to a point where I had issues with rent, so I didn’t have a place to sleep. I was sleeping in my friend’s apartment or in my car. I even packed all my things into the back of my car. At that time, nothing was going well, and I was depressed at a very early age. If you had offered to take me to Togo, I would have gone. Coming to Ghana was the only option.”

Sista Afia went on to say that moving to Ghana was the best choice of her life and that she discovered a new purpose and sense of life there. She added, “It was fun and nice. Funnily enough, we have a family house, so I didn’t struggle to find a place to sleep. I also had friends I went to school with in Ghana, so I was very happy”.
