Former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has described his defeat in the New Patriotic Party’s 2023 presidential primary as a message rather than a failure, urging party delegates to reflect, regroup, and prepare for a stronger contest ahead.Presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to see the party’s 2024 election defeat as a wake-up call, insisting that the loss carried a clear message about the need for humility, discipline and reconnection with the grassroots.

Speaking to party supporters and delegates, Ken Agyapong said the outcome of the primary revealed deep signals about the expectations of the party’s grassroots and the direction members want the NPP to take.

Agyapong, who mounted an energetic and outspoken campaign during the primaries, noted that setbacks are part of the democratic process and should serve as lessons rather than discouragements. According to him, the party’s strength lies in its ability to learn from internal contests and emerge more united.

He called on delegates to remain committed to the core values of the NPP, stressing that internal democracy must translate into electoral success in future national elections.

Ken Agyapong also appealed for unity within the party, encouraging supporters to put the broader interest of the NPP above individual ambitions. He emphasized that collective effort, honesty, and accountability would be crucial in maintaining the party’s credibility with the Ghanaian electorate.

As the NPP gears up for future political battles, Agyapong’s remarks have resonated with many delegates, framing the primary outcome not as a setback, but as a moment of reflection and renewal for the party.
