UENR Secure Third Place with Convincing Win at 2026 Honda Football Championship

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) bounced back from semi-final disappointment to claim a well-earned third-place finish at the 2026 Honda Football Championship.

Following a 4-1 penalty loss to the University of Ghana after a goalless draw in the semi-finals, UENR responded with determination, delivering a commanding performance to defeat the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies 2-0 in the third-place playoff.

Motivated to avoid ending the tournament without a medal, UENR took control from the outset, displaying greater urgency and attacking intent. Their dominance paid off as Emmanuel Appiagye and Aziz Yussif each found the net to secure victory.

Beyond their attacking efficiency, UENR also impressed defensively, maintaining a disciplined backline that successfully contained UBIDS and ensured a clean sheet.

The result highlights UENR’s consistency and resilience throughout the competition, capping a strong campaign despite narrowly missing out on a place in the final.
