The Member of Parliament for Tolon, Habib Iddrisu, has announced that two players discovered during the Soyalana Gala Tournament have earned selection into Ghana’s national Under-20 team.

Speaking after the competition, the legislator described the development as one of the major successes of the tournament, which was established to promote grassroots football and identify young talents within the constituency.

“I have been informed that two players from this tournament have been selected for the national Under-20 team, and that is one of the benefits of this tournament,” he stated.

Mr Iddrisu also revealed that Tamale Victory Stars, a Division Two side, has signed six players from the competition, while four others have secured opportunities for football trials abroad.

In addition to player development, the MP announced plans to support coaching education within the constituency.

According to him, the coaches of the four semi-finalist teams  Nyankpala A, Nyankpala B, Tolon A and Waribogu will be enrolled in the Ghana Football Association License D coaching course to enhance their technical knowledge and capacity.

“The coaches of Nyankpala A, Nyankpala B, Tolon A and Waribogu will be enrolled in the GFA License D course,” he said.

Mr Iddrisu encouraged players identified by scouts during the tournament to remain disciplined and continue working hard to advance their football careers while representing the constituency positively.

Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu, who attended the tournament, praised the initiative and commended the Tolon MP for investing in grassroots sports development.

He further disclosed that scouts and technical teams would continue visiting the constituency annually to identify promising talents for Ghana’s national teams.

The Soyalana Gala Tournament forms part of a broader initiative by the Tolon MP to promote sports development, youth engagement and talent discovery within the constituency.
