Kingsley Agyemang, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has extended financial assistance to 418 tertiary students drawn from 24 electoral areas and 118 polling stations within the constituency.

The MP spent GH¢808,939.13 to support students across 74 tertiary institutions nationwide for the 2025 to 2026 academic year. The support covers tuition payments and other academic-related expenses for the beneficiaries.

Details of the intervention were disclosed by the Dean of Electoral Area Coordinators of the New Patriotic Party in Abuakwa South, Samuel Berquine, during a press conference in Kyebi on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

According to Mr. Berquine, the initiative forms part of the MP’s broader efforts to expand access to higher education for young people in the constituency.

“It is with great joy that we sit here this morning to announce that for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, our beloved MP, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has invested GH¢808,939.13 in the education of 418 tertiary students across all 24 electoral areas and 118 polling stations in the Abuakwa South Constituency,” he said.

He added that this is the first time such a significant amount has been spent within a single academic year on tertiary fee support for students in the constituency.

Dr. Agyemang explained that his decision to support the students is driven by his belief in education as a key driver of development.

According to him, investing in education remains one of the most effective ways to achieve long-term socio-economic transformation.

“A society can only achieve economic and social transformation if its people are well educated. I am an MP today because I had access to education,” he said.

“I believe investing in the education of my constituents is the best gift I can give them. These students will not only be intellectually empowered but also economically equipped to contribute to the development of this constituency.”

Some beneficiaries of the programme expressed gratitude to the MP, describing the support as timely relief that will allow them to focus on their academic work without financial pressure.
