Kennedy Jr. and Rollins Reveal a Historic Overhaul of American Nutrition Policy and Return Real Food to the Center of Health

On Wednesday, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary together with U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins released the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030
The new Guidelines presented an overhaul of the tried-and-true nutritional pyramid we all know and love. The same one that was pinned up in our elementary school science class, advising us on how much of each food group we needed to be eating.
Secretary Kennedy stated, “These Guidelines bring us back to the foundations.” “American households need to significantly cut back on highly processed foods and put more priority on whole, nutrient-dense foods like protein, dairy, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains.” We can restore America’s health in this way
The new Guidelines prioritize straightforward, adaptable recommendations based on modern nutrition science: Make protein a priority at every meal, eat dairy products that are full-fat and sugar-free, consume fruits and vegetables throughout the day, focusing on complete forms, include healthy fats from whole foods like avocados, meats, shellfish, eggs, nuts, seeds, and olives, prioritize whole grains and drastically cut back on refined carbs, reduce your intake of artificial additives, added sugars, and highly processed meals, eat the appropriate amount for your age, sex, size, and degree of activity, to promote hydration, go for water and unsweetened drinks and reduce alcohol intake for improved general health.
In order to ensure adequate nutrition at every stage of life, the new Guidelines include specific guidelines for infants and children, adolescents, pregnant and lactating women, older persons, people with chronic diseases, and vegetarians and vegans.
