The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has commissioned a new school block at Abenase Methodist School. This marks the ninth school facility he has delivered in the constituency since 2017.

The project forms part of efforts to improve access to quality education in Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency. The area has long faced development challenges, with education seen as a key driver of social mobility.

Speaking at the event, the MP said education has played a major role in transforming lives in the constituency. He shared his personal story, noting that his own progress was made possible through education.

He explained that his focus since taking office has been to replace temporary learning spaces with permanent classroom structures. Many schools in the area previously operated under trees or in poor conditions.

According to him, two more school projects are currently under construction. These are expected to be completed within the year, bringing the total number of schools delivered to eleven.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah said the goal is to provide a better learning environment for students. He added that improved facilities will help students perform well and contribute to their communities in the future.

He also encouraged students to take their studies seriously and aim higher. He urged them to remain disciplined and make full use of the new infrastructure.

The Abenase project adds to other school developments in the constituency, including facilities at Akyem Anyinase, Akyem Bontodiase, and Akyem Ayirebi.

Funding for these projects has come from sources such as the World Bank and the Oppong Nkrumah Education and Skills Development Fund, which was set up in 2017.

The new school block includes modern classrooms, staff offices, electricity, and sanitation facilities to improve teaching and learning.

Beyond education, the MP highlighted efforts to support public sector workers. He said housing projects are underway for teachers, doctors, and other essential workers.

He added that plans are in place to provide bungalow accommodation for teachers to improve retention in the area.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah thanked contractors and stakeholders for their support and urged the community to maintain the facility to ensure its long-term use.
