The Ministry of the Interior and National Security has confirmed receiving reports of a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso involving a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana. In a press release issued to media houses and signed by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government described the information as disturbing, noting that the incident occurred in Titao on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Concerns about the safety of individuals on board were raised by the statement that the truck carrying Ghanaian traders was involved in the incident. “The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana, which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao,” the release said.

The Ministry stated that, to gather more information and verify the names of any Ghanaians affected, Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso has begun corresponding with local authorities. “The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is liaising with officials of Burkina Faso to visit the attack site for details and identification of Ghanaians caught in the attack,” the statement added.
It stated that if new information becomes available, the public will be informed. As terrorist attacks have increased in frequency in recent years, the growth coincides with increased security concerns in several sections of the Sahel region.
