Health recruitment portal down as mop-up exercise begins

The Ministry of Health’s recruitment portal has run into yet another setback, with the mop-up exercise meant to validate and post health professionals being disrupted by technical failures. The sequence of events is important here:

On May 22, 2026, the Ministry of Health announced plans to validate and post health professionals as part of ongoing recruitment.
Applicants were instructed to revise their personal details and upload passport-sized photographs between May 21 and May 25.
The ministry stated the portal would reopen on May 27 and May 28 to facilitate the mop-up exercise.
On May 27, applicants attempting to log in encountered a ‘503 Error: Service Unavailable’ message instead of gaining access.
With over 100,000 unemployed health professionals awaiting placement, repeated technical failures have intensified anxiety and confusion.

This timeline shows how the ministry’s attempt to streamline recruitment has been undermined by persistent technical glitches. The backlog of unemployed health professionals makes these delays particularly sensitive, and the repeated “service unavailable” errors are likely to fuel frustration and mistrust among applicants.
