Asante Twum addressed concerns surrounding the player’s international future after reports emerged that Senaya had been called up by Togo for the upcoming international window.
However, the GFA remains confident that the right-back has agreed to play for Ghana after several engagements with the federation.
Speaking on Tv3’s Sports Station, Henry Asante Twum emphasised that the FA would not include a player in the national team squad without first receiving clear consent from the player and the player’s club.
“Without a player’s word, I think it will be unprofessional to announce a squad when the player hasn’t agreed, when the club hasn’t agreed. There is that assurance that he would make it.
The FA has been engaging him a number of times. We’ve had conversations with him over a long period of time, and he has accepted to play for us [Black Stars of Ghana],” he said.
Senaya, who plays for French club AJ Auxerre, was named among four new players included in the 26-man squad announced by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for the upcoming international friendlies.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face the Germany national football team and the Austria national football team in two high-profile matches that will serve as key preparation for the team.
The friendlies form part of Ghana’s build-up towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across United States, Canada and Mexico.
across United States, Canada and Mexico.
The games will allow Otto Addo and his technical team to assess new players and strengthen the squad ahead of future competitive fixtures.
Senaya’s inclusion comes as Ghana continues its strategy of recruiting players of Ghanaian descent who are eligible to represent the country at international level.
