Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that the government is set to introduce a Sports Levy aimed at enhancing funding for sports development in Ghana.
The proposed levy, according to the minister, will serve as a sustainable financial mechanism to support national teams, improve sporting infrastructure, and promote youth participation in sports across the country.
He explained that discussions are ongoing with relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), to finalize the framework for the initiative. The levy will be designed to ensure minimal financial strain on citizens while maximizing its impact on sports development.
Kofi Adams emphasized that the measure forms part of government’s broader strategy to build a robust and self-sustaining sports sector capable of creating jobs and fostering national unity through athletic excellence.
