    Edem electrifies African Athletics Championship opening ceremony

    Ghanaian rap icon Edem delivered a standout performance at the opening ceremony of the African Senior Athletics Championships held on Monday, May 11, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

    The award-winning musician energized the stadium with a lively performance that drew enthusiastic reactions from athletes, officials and spectators throughout the event.

    Opening his set with his hit single “Volta V/I”, Edem quickly transformed the atmosphere inside the stadium, blending music and sport into a vibrant cultural showcase.

    His performance earned widespread praise from patrons and entertainment observers, particularly for his stage presence, audience interaction and commitment to live performance without reliance on mimed DJ playback — an aspect many attendees commended.

    The rapper also performed several of his popular tracks, including “Over Again”, “Nyedzilo”, “Koene” and “Toto”, creating one of the evening’s most memorable moments.

    Some athletes participating in the championship reportedly expressed admiration for Edem’s artistry and stagecraft after the performance, with several indicating interest in exploring more of his music.
