The Kingmakers and elders of the Dagbon Kingdom have endorsed the 2026 Northern Business Fair, describing it as an important platform for promoting trade, investment and the economic potential of Northern Ghana.
The endorsement was given during a courtesy call by a delegation from Channel One TV and Citi FM to the Gbewaa Palace ahead of the two-day event.
Kingmakers back trade initiative
Speaking to Citi News, Kuga Naa, Naa Abdulai Adam II, said the Northern Business Fair aligns with Dagbon’s vision of promoting commerce, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
He explained that although the kingdom is currently observing a period of mourning following the passing of the Ya-Na, the event remains an important opportunity to showcase the region’s economic strengths to both local and international investors.
According to him, the Kingmakers and elders fully support the initiative.
“I watch all your programs. I don’t think that if you have a program in the Northern Region, we have to ignore it, but now that we are mourning, that is our problem. We are mourning because our head is gone.
“If we don’t enlist the regent, we don’t want any noise at all in the Northern Region. If it is only an exhibition, I don’t think it’s a problem. We are okay. You can go ahead and then continue the work,” he said.
Fair to showcase Northern Ghana’s potential
The 2026 Northern Business Fair is scheduled to take place on July 25 and 26 at Jubilee Park in Tamale.
The exhibition will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day and is expected to bring together businesses from across Northern Ghana and other parts of the country.
Exhibitors will showcase a wide range of products, services and innovations to prospective customers, investors, development partners and business leaders.
Platform for investment and growth
Organisers say the fair is expected to create valuable networking opportunities, attract investment and strengthen Northern Ghana’s position as a growing centre for trade and enterprise.
The event is also expected to highlight the region’s business potential while encouraging partnerships that support sustainable economic development and job creation.
