    Three killed in Kpeve road crash

    Three people have died in a road accident at Woadze near Kpeve along the Kpeve–Asikuma road in the Volta Region.

    The accident happened on Friday, May 22, 2026.

    According to the Ghana National Fire Service, personnel from the Peki Fire Station rescued 17 victims from the crash scene.

    The Fire Service said it received a distress call at 7:58pm and quickly dispatched a rescue team to the area.

    The accident involved a Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle with registration number GR 8231 C.

    The vehicle was travelling from Abotuase to Ningo in the Greater Accra Region.

    Officials said the vehicle carried 20 passengers, including 11 men, five women and four children.

    The crash badly damaged the vehicle, trapping several passengers inside.

    Rescue officers successfully removed 13 adults and four children from the wreckage.

    The Fire Service confirmed that three adults, made up of two men and one woman, died in the accident.

    Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Ambulance Service assisted with the rescue operation.

    Emergency teams transported the injured victims and the deceased to Kpando Government Hospital and Peki Government Hospital.

    Authorities said investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.

    The Fire Service has urged motorists to obey road safety regulations and avoid speeding.
