The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google for Education to support the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Ghana’s education system.

The agreement was signed by the Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, and the Global Managing Director of Google for Education, Kelvin Kells.

The partnership aims to improve teaching and learning through the use of advanced digital technologies in schools across the country.

Under the agreement, both parties will work to strengthen digital literacy, build the skills of teachers, encourage classroom innovation, and prepare students with the knowledge needed for a technology-driven global economy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Iddrisu described the partnership as a major step in the government’s efforts to modernise education and improve learning outcomes through technology and innovation.

He said the collaboration reflects the government’s commitment to preparing Ghanaian students for the future of work by investing in digital transformation and global partnerships.

The agreement also positions Ghana to expand the use of Artificial Intelligence in education while promoting an inclusive and future-ready learning system.

According to the Ministry, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to ensure that no Ghanaian child is left behind in the fast-changing digital age.
