Residents of Medie Ketewa in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have been left stunned after a tenant was allegedly killed during a disagreement over a GH¢30 electricity bill.
The victim, Opoku Agyemang, was reportedly stabbed by his landlord, Kofi Koranteng, following an argument over utility payments.
Opoku, 37, was married with three children. Reports suggest he owed his landlord GH¢30 for electricity usage.
Residents said the two men were not only landlord and tenant but also longtime friends and work colleagues, making the incident even more shocking to the community.
An eyewitness, Enoch Idan Danquah, told Onua TV that the landlord had invited Opoku into his room to discuss concerns about how the electricity bills were being paid.
During the discussion, the suspect allegedly pulled out a machete and stabbed Opoku.
The suspect reportedly fled the area after the incident.
The case has been reported to the Ghana Police Service, while officers from the Kotoku Police Command have transported the body to the mortuary for preservation and a postmortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
