Popular Ghanaian content creator and YouTuber, Wodemaya, has expressed strong displeasure over comments made by some Zambians concerning the attire worn by President John Dramani Mahama during his official visit to Zambia.
President Mahama is currently on a three-day state visit to Zambia, where he is engaging in high-level diplomatic meetings and strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Zambia. However, beyond the official engagements, attention on social media has shifted to the president’s choice of attire.
President Mahama was spotted during the tour with a fugu, a traditional Ghanaian smock with strong cultural ties to northern Ghana. The outfit, which is widely regarded as a symbol of identity, pride, and cultural expression, drew mixed reactions online.
Others, especially some Zambian social media users, called the traditional clothing a “blouse,” while many applauded the president for boldly presenting Ghanaian culture on a global platform. The remarks quickly sparked I’m, reactions from Ghanaians on social media, who viewed the description as disrespectful and culturally insensitive.
Wodemaya was one of the people who publicly denounced the remarks, showing his disgust and disappointment. The content creator responded to the comments in a Facebook post, calling them disrespectful and unacceptable and expressing how hard it was for him to react coolly.
