Lebron James scored 31 points against the Suns, 15 of which came in the closing
minutes of an exciting game.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns to go to the NBA in-season tournament semifinals, and LeBron James took center stage at Crypto.com Arena.
On Tuesday night, the hosts narrowly defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 106-
103, overcoming a dismal third quarter to set up a meeting with them in Las Vegas.
Just a few weeks after becoming the first player in NBA history to score 39,000 points,
The NBA’s all-
time top scorer, who scored 33 points for the Cleveland Cavaliers in November 2003,
also finished with eleven assists. He made history by becoming the first player to score 30 points in two different games that were played at least 20 years apart.
With just 15 seconds remaining, Austin Reaves scored 20 points off the bench, including a crucial three-pointer, while Anthony Davis contributed 27 points and 15 rebounds of his own.
The Suns, led by Kevin Durant with 31 points, were furious in the last seconds because they felt like they were being treated unfairly when James called for a timeout on a loose ball.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ path to the final four at Fiserv Forum was considerably simpler. Led by Adrian Griffin, his team defeated the New York Knicks 146-122, scoring their highest point total of the year.
Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded another double-double, finishing with 35 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds.
Damian Lillard contributed 28 points to the total as well. The Knicks’ offensive performance, however, was split between the first two quarters, when they scored 72 points, and the third and fourth quarters, when they scored just 50 points combined.
Julius Randle’s 41-point performance was insignificant for the visiting team, as the Bucks extended their winning record in the first-ever in-season competition to 5-0 after defeating the Knicks in their flawless group-stage campaign.
“This was a big step tonight. Our goal was to travel to Vegas. But we have a business to attend to when we get to Vegas. We still have two games to win there,” Griffin is quoted by ESPN as saying following the match.
The Bucks and Indiana Pacers will square off for the first seed in Saturday’s Championship game before the Lakers and Pelicans square off at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.
