Speculation has been circulating across social media about who would portray Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in Disney’s live-action reimagining of Tangled.
The guessing game came to an end after Disney officially revealed the actors set to bring the beloved characters to life on screen. Actress Taegan Croft has been cast as Rapunzel, while Milo Manheim will take on the role of Flynn Rider.
It was also confirmed through the film’s official page that the live-action adaptation will be released exclusively in theaters. The movie is currently slated for a theatrical release in July 2026.

Manheim’s biggest Disney role yet
Manheim, 24, is best known for leading Disney’s Zombies franchise, where he built a large Gen-Z following as Zed. His casting as Flynn Rider marks a major step up within the studio, placing him at the centre of one of Disney’s most anticipated live-action remakes.
The actor, who is the son of Camryn Manheim, first appeared on screen in a 2009 episode of Ghost Whisperer. He later gained wider attention after finishing as runner-up on Dancing With the Stars in 2018.
Teagan Croft steps into Rapunzel’s role.
Croft, 21, rose to international recognition as Raven in DC’s Titans, becoming one of the youngest actors to lead a major superhero television series.
The Australian-born actor made her film debut in The Osiris Child before appearing on long-running soap Home and Away. In 2023, she starred in Netflix’s True Spirit, portraying sailor Jessica Watson in the biographical drama. Croft responded playfully to the casting news, joking in the comments section of Disney’s announcement post, “OMGGG WHO ARE THEY”, as fans reacted to her casting as the iconic Disney princess.
What we know about Disney’s Tangled remake
The live action Tangled will be directed by Michael Gracey, best known for The Greatest Showman, with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
Casting for Mother Gothel has not yet been announced, following earlier rumors involving Scarlett Johansson. Moore has previously said she would be open to appearing in the remake in a cameo role. Disney has not confirmed a release date for the live action Tangled, nor whether original composers Alan Menken and Glenn Slater will return to create new music.
