The Wa High Court has sentenced Elisha Mahama, a former Human Resource Manager of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, to life imprisonment for the murder of the hotel’s Chief Executive Officer, Eric Johnson.
Delivering judgment on October 15, 2025, Justice Yussif Assibey found Mahama guilty of murdering the businessman, who was popularly known as the owner of Jirapa Dubai.
The incident occurred on February 11, 2024, when Johnson was found dead in his private residence with multiple stab wounds. Police investigations led to the arrest of Mahama, who was later charged with murder.
Two other accused persons, Belinda Miller and Kweku Kankumbata, who were standing trial alongside Mahama, were acquitted and discharged after the court found insufficient evidence linking them to the crime.
The court ruled that the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that Mahama was responsible for the killing of Johnson and subsequently handed him a life sentence.
Eric Johnson was the founder and CEO of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, a luxury resort in the Jirapa Municipality of the Upper West Region, popularly referred to as Jirapa Dubai.
