The Cocoa Health and Extension Division of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has engaged cocoa farmers in the Bodi District of the Western North Region as part of ongoing efforts to educate stakeholders on the newly announced producer price for the 2025/2026 cocoa season.
Speaking during the sensitization session, Mr. Kennedy Osei Ampoto, an officer from the Public Affairs Department of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division, commended the farmers for their dedication and resilience in sustaining Ghana’s cocoa industry. He assured them of COCOBOD’s continued commitment to supporting cocoa farmers with improved services, extension advice, and inputs to boost productivity.
“We recognize the vital role cocoa farmers play in the economy and we are here to ensure you understand the pricing mechanisms and the full benefits available to you under the new cocoa season,” Mr. Ampoto stated.
The engagement provided a platform for farmers to seek clarification on issues related to the determination of the producer price, weighing practices, and the timely release of funds. It also highlighted government and COCOBOD interventions aimed at improving farm yields, such as mass pruning, hand pollination, and the cocoa rehabilitation programme.
Farmers in attendance expressed appreciation for the interaction and welcomed COCOBOD’s assurance of support, while appealing for timely access to inputs and improved road infrastructure to ease transportation of produce.
The initiative forms part of a nationwide outreach to deepen transparency in the cocoa sector and strengthen the relationship between COCOBOD and Ghana’s cocoa farming communities.
