    Jinapor pledges accountability after Akosombo Substation fire report

    The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has assured Ghanaians that government will pursue accountability following the submission of a report into the fire incident at the Akosombo Substation.

    The Minister disclosed on Thursday, June 11, that he had received the final report from the committee tasked with investigating the cause of the incident.

    According to Dr. Jinapor, government will thoroughly examine the committee’s findings and recommendations before determining the next steps.

    He stressed that accountability remains a key priority and assured the public that appropriate action will be taken where necessary.

    The Minister said the review process will help government identify any shortcomings highlighted in the report and implement measures to address them.

    Dr. Jinapor noted that government is also focused on preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future.

    He said lessons from the investigation will guide efforts to strengthen operational standards and improve the reliability of critical power infrastructure.

    The Minister indicated that further details would be released after government completes its assessment of the report.

    The Akosombo Substation plays a vital role in Ghana’s electricity transmission network, making the findings of the investigation significant for the country’s energy sector.

    While the contents of the report have not yet been made public, government says it remains committed to transparency and accountability as it reviews the recommendations and determines the appropriate course of action.

    Dr. Jinapor assured Ghanaians that the findings would receive careful attention and that measures would be taken to address any issues identified by the investigative committee.
