The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department has announced the start of payments for outstanding arrears owed to workers in the education and health sectors.
The Department said the unpaid arrears date back to August 2024.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the CAGD said the arrears would be paid in four equal instalments over the next few months.
According to the Department, the payment plan will run from May to August 2026.
The first instalment is expected to be completed by Friday, May 29, 2026.
The remaining payments will follow in June, July and August.
“The Department further states that the remaining tranches will be paid in accordance with the approved schedule stated above,” the statement signed by Cephas N. Dosoo, Head of Public Relations, said.
The announcement is expected to bring relief to affected teachers and health workers who have waited several months for their entitlements.
The statement did not disclose the total number of beneficiaries or the full value of the arrears.
However, the Department said the phased payment plan would help ensure full settlement without further delays.
The CAGD expressed appreciation to affected workers for their patience during the delay period.
“CAGD thanks all affected beneficiaries for their patience and forbearance,” the statement added.
