The Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has dismissed reports claiming that military lands have been handed over to Ibrahim Mahama for development.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, he described the claims as “false and malicious,” stressing that no such arrangement exists. He stated clearly that the reports suggesting the President’s brother had been given military land are completely untrue.

Mr Genfi explained that the project being discussed is a redevelopment initiative by the Ghana Armed Forces. The project aims to replace old and deteriorating infrastructure at Burma Camp, much of which dates back to the colonial era.

He said the redevelopment forms part of a self-help housing programme designed to improve accommodation for military personnel. As part of this effort, Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive of Dzata Group Holding Limited, has made a major financial contribution.

According to the Deputy Minister, Mr Mahama donated GH¢120 million to support the construction of 10 housing blocks. Each block will contain 16 housing units for military staff.

Mr Genfi noted that the donation was announced during a fundraising luncheon held at the Ghana Military Academy. The event was chaired by Sam Jonah and attended by corporate leaders and partners of the armed forces.

He praised the contribution as a patriotic gesture that will help improve living conditions for soldiers and their families. According to him, the project will directly support the welfare of military personnel who serve the nation.
