“I’m completely fine with the change,” Stonebwoy reacts to KIA renaming

Award-winning Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has weighed in on the ongoing conversation surrounding the proposed renaming of Kotoka International Airport (KIA), stating clearly that he has no objections to the change.

Speaking on the issue, the reggae and dancehall star emphasized that he is at peace with whatever decision is ultimately taken, noting that his focus remains on unity and progress rather than controversy. According to Stonebwoy, discussions about national symbols and monuments should be handled with maturity and respect for differing perspectives.

“I have no problem with the change,” the musician said, a statement that has since sparked conversations across social and traditional media.

The possible renaming of KIA has generated mixed reactions among Ghanaians, with some supporting the move as a necessary step toward redefining national identity, while others argue for preserving historical names regardless of their complexities. Stonebwoy’s stance places him among public figures who have chosen a calm, non-confrontational approach to the debate.

Known not only for his music but also for his advocacy for peace and social cohesion, Stonebwoy’s comments appear consistent with his long-standing message of tolerance and dialogue. Rather than taking a hardline position, he encouraged Ghanaians to engage constructively and prioritize national development.

As discussions continue, Stonebwoy’s remarks serve as a reminder that differing opinions can coexist without hostility, and that national conversations are best guided by respect, understanding, and forward-thinking leadership.
