The directive was announced by the Ministry of Health in a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. It mandates the Ministry’s Technical Adviser, Dr Korku Awoonor, to set up a technical working group to evaluate the structural soundness, operational capacity, and overall productivity of health facilities in the region.

The order was issued during a two-day management retreat of the Ministry of Health and aligns with the government’s broader agenda to strengthen oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public health facilities across the country meet approved safety, quality, and performance standards.

In a related development, the Health Minister has also instructed that 24-hour cleaning services be introduced in all public hospitals nationwide to improve hygiene and enhance patient care.

According to the ministry, the initiative is aimed at reinforcing infection prevention and control measures while creating safer, cleaner, and more patient-friendly healthcare environments.

The ministry noted that the combined measures reflect its commitment to improving standards in the health sector through proactive supervision, better facility management, and sustained investment in quality healthcare delivery.
