Former Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has criticized what he calls the rising influence of fake pastors who exploit their congregations for personal gain.

Speaking during a Sunday service hosted by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare on November 2, Mr. Agyapong said such pastors were making the work of genuine men of God difficult.

“Some of your colleagues are indoctrinating and extorting from the masses. They put fear in church members. If you really believe in God, and a pastor tells you to sprinkle salt, he is fake,” he said.

He commended Archbishop Agyinasare for supporting his long-standing campaign against fraudulent pastors, describing the cleric as one of the few who publicly acknowledged his stance.

Mr. Agyapong also called for unity between the church and political leadership to address national challenges, stressing that both must work together to “reset Ghana.”

“Even twins are not the same. We may have bad politicians and bad pastors, but together, the good ones must lead the way to rebuild Ghana,” he said.

He urged churches to go beyond spiritual guidance by investing in industries and job creation to help reduce unemployment.

“The church makes money, but it should also create industries. When members are employed, they will gladly give back to the church,” he added.
