Six people, among them a toddler, have sustained gunshot wounds after being struck by stray bullets in Kwabenakwa, a community within the Obuasi East District of the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, the victims were hit during an incident on Tuesday, October 14, though the exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear. Residents say the sound of gunfire caused panic in the area, forcing many to flee for safety.
All six victims were later taken to a nearby health facility for treatment.
Police have since begun investigations to determine the source of the gunfire and to bring those responsible to justice. Officers have also been deployed to the community to maintain calm as inquiries continue.
The incident has left residents of Kwabenakwa in shock, with community leaders calling for greater police presence and swift action to prevent similar occurrences.
