The final 20 living hostages held by Hamas in Gaza have returned to Israel after more than two years in captivity, the Israeli military has confirmed.
The hostages were abducted during Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attacks and include twin brothers Ziv and Gali Berman, as well as Omri Miran who was seen reuniting with his wife, Lishay, in an emotional moment captured on camera.
Israeli officials say the remains of up to 28 deceased hostages are yet to be returned.
Their release comes as part of a deal under which Israel is freeing 250 Palestinian prisoners and more than 1,700 detainees. The first groups have already arrived in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, and in Gaza.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is in Israel, addressing the Knesset as part of his ongoing Middle East visit. Trump earlier declared that “the war is over” in Gaza but stopped short of outlining details of his broader peace plan.
He is expected to travel to Egypt next for a peace summit with other world leaders aimed at charting the next steps toward regional stability.
