At least 15 people have died, and six others have been hospitalized after a canoe carrying mourners capsized on the Oti River near Kete Krachi in the Oti Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, October 10, when the canoe, reportedly overloaded with about 21 passengers, overturned while traveling from Okuma to Debume in the Krachi West District.
According to eyewitnesses, the canoe became unstable midway through the journey and eventually capsized, throwing all passengers into the river.
