Ghanaian gospel musician Perez Musik has sparked conversation online after stating that the Church has the power to eradicate poverty if it genuinely commits to doing so.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the Hewale Lala hitmaker said he believes the Church possesses the resources and influence to transform the economic lives of its members and wider communities.
“I believe the Church can, if they want to,” Perez Musik said, stressing that faith-based institutions can do much more to improve the living conditions of people who attend their services every week.
The singer explained that poverty and hunger are among the reasons many young people lose interest in church activities, noting that spiritual messages should also be backed by practical support systems for the needy.
He urged pastors and church leaders to prioritize initiatives that create opportunities for youth empowerment, job creation, and social support, adding that the Church’s responsibility extends beyond the pulpit.
