Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher, Sonnie Badu, has showered praise on Shatta Wale following the phenomenal success of his Shatta Fest concert, held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Accra’s Independence Square.
The concert, which also marked the dancehall star’s birthday celebration, drew an extraordinary crowd estimated by some reports to have exceeded 400,000 fans, making it one of the largest music gatherings in Ghana’s history. Fans from across the country thronged the venue, flooding the surrounding streets as Shatta Wale delivered a performance that electrified the capital.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, October 20, Sonnie Badu described the turnout as “unprecedented,” likening it to Ghana’s most historic national celebration.
“It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge,” he wrote.
He went on to commend Shatta Wale’s unbreakable connection with his fanbase, calling him the true “voice of the streets.”
“Shatta Wale’s bond with the people is something truly extraordinary — he represents the voice of the streets,” Badu added.
The Shatta Fest concert featured a lineup of Ghana’s top artistes who joined the self-proclaimed dancehall king in a night filled with high-energy performances, fireworks, and jubilation.
Shatta Wale, who turned 41 on the day of the event, expressed gratitude to his fans for their loyalty and to the artists who shared the stage with him, describing the night as “a moment Ghana will never forget.”
