Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lawyer makes his ex-girlfriend read loving texts until she cries

In a tense moment during Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing federal trial, his defense lawyer, Teny Geragos, had his ex-girlfriend—testifying under the pseudonym “Jane”—read aloud affectionate text messages she had sent him during their relationship. The emotional exercise, which unfolded during cross-examination on Wednesday, left Jane in tears as she revisited messages professing her deep love and appreciation for Combs.

The exchange appeared to support the defense’s claim that Jane was a willing participant in sexual encounters Combs allegedly arranged with male sex workers. Jane, who has testified for five days, has said she engaged in the acts to please Combs, despite not wanting to be with anyone but him. She also admitted to resenting Combs for allegedly treating other girlfriends better, even recalling a time he bought matching jewelry for another woman.

The courtroom moment came after prosecutors objected to the emotional line of questioning, prompting a sidebar discussion with the judge. Combs, 55, remained calm at the defense table.

Combs faces serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, with prosecutors alleging he used coercion, drugs, and violence to exploit women, often aided by employees. He has pleaded not guilty and could face 15 years to life if convicted.

The prosecution expects to rest by next Wednesday. The defense plans to call its own witnesses based on the prosecution’s final lineup, with the trial anticipated to conclude by July 4.
